Tavira and East Algarve: Beach on Cabanas Island

Beach on Cabanas Island

The beach on Cabanas Island, near Tavira, requires a bit of effort to get there, but we all know that sometimes the best things in life are worth the work!
Located on the other side of the river, across from the village of Cabanas, it is a piece of land with the river on one side and the sea on the other, offering a unique blend of freshwater and saltwater flora, fauna, and wildlife, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers.

To reach the beach, you'll need to take a taxi-boat, with many departing regularly from the city's docks at a very affordable cost for a round trip. The short trip along the estuary is a lot of fun, especially for kids, and once you arrive on the other side, it's just a short walk along the walkway to the main beach.
The waters are usually warmer than in many other parts of the Algarve, and the beach is vast, with some beach bars on the island for drinks, snacks, and ice creams.
